The Bath Pig

Bath

The company was born out of a mutual passion for fine foods amongst two good friends, we wanted to produce a Chorizo (and later Salami, Pepperoni and specialist Bacons) using free range British pork. We have based our Chorizo on traditional Spanish recipes and have produced a high quality, British product with very stylish branding and web presence.

Tim French and Matthew ‘Mash’ Chiles are the two directors of The Bath Pig Company. "We have spent over a year experimenting with various spices, casings and curing salt mixes along with different meat to fat ratios to come up with the perfect Chorizo". The artisan skills used by smaller Spanish Chorizo produces have been adopted by The Bath Pig Company, and a visit to an Andaluthian Iberico pig farm, north of Seville provided a fantastic insight into the age-old curing processes.

In January 2009, we moved our experiment from Tim’s kitchen and make-shift curing cupboard to a contract partner’s factory. We have designed and built 2 large curing rooms, capable of an output of 3 tonnes a month. These temperature and humidity controlled rooms have been specifically designed to create the perfect environment to hang our 5 week cured sausages.

The Sausage Fest

Bristol

One wet and misty morning on a muddy, well-trodden hill somewhere in Southern England two men were searching for something. They were searching for the perfect sausage… They had been awake for days and had not eaten but now both fatigue and hunger beckoned where before it had remained an absent friend.

As they wandered the Festival they were surrounded on all sides by poor quality and expensive food, surely somewhere they would find a sausage worthy of their high expectations… Try as they might their search ended in vain – the perfect sausage was nowhere to be found. Granted there were sausages on offer but they knew as you probably do dear reader that there are sausages and then there are sausages.

Hence The Sausage Fest was born as the two friends vowed that no one else should suffer what they had – to go hungry at a festival despite being surrounded by food. They vowed to create the perfect sausage, The Sausage Fest Sausage and now this vow has finally been fulfilled. In 2007 Ryan Coghlan, Luke Freeman and Tom Murray came up with the idea of The Sausage Fest - simple and honest food at a reasonable price. A festival and event catering business producing its' own finest sausages.
